Family

Just three years after committing to each other (by marrying) in 1980, Jon and Roslyn Caleo founded Black River Produce in 1983. Their farming story began where it partly continues to this day; on their first farm, where they built their first house, their family home, in Black River, Far North Queensland.

 

As Jon and Roz began to grow produce for families around Australia, so too did they begin to grow their own family, that very same year. They raised their Caleo Crew, a total of four children, alongside a plethora of different crops. Ultimately, the crop that they found the most fulfillment in growing was the scrummy-yummy watermelon, a small crop that they continue to grow to this day.
